A senior Pakistani government official confirmed to CBS News that Islamabad has intensified diplomatic efforts to bring Tehran and Washington back to the negotiating table over the Iran war.
Despite the lack of a breakthrough in the historic face-to-face round of talks over the weekend, Pakistani authorities said they remain cautiously optimistic about the prospects for continued engagement between both sides.
Notably, there appears to be an element of rebranding underway, with officials now increasingly referring to the "Islamabad Talks" as the "Islamabad Process," a shift that suggests an effort to frame the engagement as an ongoing diplomatic track rather than a one-off meeting.
The top-level source also said Monday that...More

Fed Chair Jerome Powell, Treasury's Bessent and top bank CEOs met over Anthropic's Mythos model
![]()
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent met with top bank CEOs in a closed-door meeting on Tuesday to discuss the cybersecurity risks posed by Anthropic's latest AI model, Mythos, sources told CBS News.
JPMorgan Chase chief executive Jamie Dimon was invited but was unable to attend, according to the sources. The meeting was earlier reported by Bloomberg News, which said Powell and Bessent summoned the financial executives to the Treasury Department's Washington, D.C., headquarters to discuss the potential risks from Mythos and other AI models.
Anthropic, the developer of generative AI chatbot Claude, on Tuesday said it was forming a project with several major tech companies, including Amazon, Apple and Nvidia, to use Mythos to strengthen cybersecurity defenses.
Anthropic added that it will not widely release Mythos because of its...More

Rayan Cherki breaks the Premier League norm as Manchester City boost title hopes with Chelsea win
Pep Guardiola's men have pulled within six points of Arsenal, have a game in hand, and they'll face the Gunners next weekend
![]()
Awaiting a corner from the left hand side, Manchester City might just have done what every player in the Premier League has learned from experience is the optimal approach for winning in 2026. Get the ball into the great mass of bodies around the six-yard box and see what happens. For most teams, it is just the shrewdest way to use that possession.
Most teams, though, are not blessed with Rayan Cherki. And so it was that the season of the set piece found a little room for some true No. 10 play of old. Rather than lobbed into the mixer, the ball went short, a give-and-go with Jeremy Doku that allowed Cherki to drive along the edge of the box. Jorrel Hato could lay a glove on his man, but not enough to slow Cherki's progress. Estevao bought the...More

She was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after undergoing field sobriety tests.
Authorities still have not provided the results of the chemical test taken after the arrest.

A stampede at a popular historical fortress in Haiti killed at least 25 people and injured dozens of others, officials said, revising an earlier, higher number of fatalities.
The incident took place Saturday during an annual Easter gathering at the Citadelle Henri, also known as Citadelle Laferriere, a 19th-century fortress and tourist spot in the northern town of Milot.
"The injured are currently receiving the necessary medical care, and a rescue team is searching for any missing persons," Culture Minister Emmanuel Menard told AFP on Sunday.
Jean Henri Petit, the head of civil protection for Haiti's Nord department, warned the death toll could yet rise, CBS News partner BBC News reported.
Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aime said the...More

Anthropic's Mythos AI can spot weaknesses in almost every computer on earth. Uh-oh.
![]()
Anthropic's latest AI technology, called Mythos, is so powerful at revealing software vulnerabilities that the company is afraid to release the model publicly lest it fall into the hands of bad actors.
The company, the developer behind the Claude AI chatbot, said in a post on its website this week that the new tool has already uncovered thousands of weak points in "every major operating system and web browser."
Although that capability could prove to be a boon for protecting critical systems, it is also stirring concerns that hackers could exploit Mythos to attack the IT infrastructure at banks, hospitals, government systems and many other organizations.
Preparing for the "storm"
Rather than releasing Mythos to the public, Anthropic is sharing the tech with a select group of major...More
